How Will Found Yoga
Fitness has always been a priority in Will’s life. From playing team sports like Varsity Football, Ice Hockey, and Lacrosse in High School to leading a Division-3 Lacrosse team as captain in college, an active lifestyle has always kept him grounded. Will found Ashtanga Mysore when he was living in Palestine building Wadi Climbing, his rock climbing gym, after college. He was attracted to the athleticism and the mental calm that came over me after class. From this point forward, Yoga practice became a fundamental piece of Will’s life and he saw its immediate effects as a marathoner, a climbing instructor, and within his climbing community.
In the fall of 2017, Will began my 200-hour teacher training with Amy Beth Treciokas at Yoga Now in Chicago. Though he still felt a strong pull towards the practice of Ashtanga, Will began to see the depth from a slower Asana practice - Restorative, Yin, Gentle/Slow Vinyasa Flow, Forrest Yoga, and Bhakti Yoga. He completed teacher training and his first year and a half of teaching while he had a full-time job. Will didn’t have a plan to be a full-time yoga teacher, and the compensation wasn’t enough to quit his full-time gig. Will found balance teaching in a workshop format over weekly classes during this time. After becoming a partner with Lofti in July 2019, he has found the freedom to expand his yoga and meditation leadership in new ways as the Lofti business grows. Will has also had the opportunity to deepen his education through a 100-hr Yin Yoga Teacher Training, a 30-hr iRest Yoga Nidra Level 1 teacher training, supplemental yoga weekend training, and exploring Qigong, Longevity breathing, and Reiki certifications.
In the last 5 years, In addition to my RYT 200, I have 100+ hours teaching Yin Yoga and Level 1-2 Vinyasa classes at Yoga Now and Shiva Shack in Chicago, IL and Santosha Yoga in Crozet, VA.
