Leveraging Your Workstyle

An architect and innovator of business growth, Nicole Vasquez creates systems that build and sustain communities.

Nicole Vasquez

Nicole and I met through common friends at Deskpass, a co-working space in Chicago that she helped found. (This should be no surprise, given her tenure in the industry.) I was immediately drawn to her easy personality, bright smile, and thoughtful questions about my business. Nicole is one of those rare entrepreneurs who brings a balance of vision and laser-focused execution to the table, so it’s no surprise that Deskpass has grown to 227 city locations in less than 10 years—especially while surviving the COVID work-from-home transition for employees and businesses.

Throughout our conversation and in the time I have grown to know her, she has been a shining example to me of how consistent iteration of processes to keep moving toward a goal leads to success. In particular, we discussed this concept as it applies to personal work style—and the constant recognition of what isn’t working—in order to optimize and keep moving forward in your career or business.

Self-Care Leads to Big Success

Following an amazing run leading a string of successful businesses, Nicole recently decided to transition to Refresh Miami, where she is applying her talents to growing another community through the role of Chief Operating Officer. In 2024, she is releasing her book, Momentum by Design, which she shares, “examines the strategies of global leaders and influential decision-makers. It provides a framework for anyone looking to build momentum around a cause and make a difference.”

During times of transition, ask yourself, ‘How do I want to spend my time?’

Nicole's Top 3 Tips for Leveraging Your Workstyle

  1. Constant recognition of what is and isn’t working; then find ways to optimize or delegate.

  2. Get clear about when you work best (time of day, processes, and structure), then leverage your work style within your work structure.

  3. Remember the basics: time block and turn off notifications to make space for deep work.
